The Village Concept

Our Village approach is a creative way to allow for flexibility in learning and for maximizing our educational resources. Solomon Schechter Academy follows the program of studies prescribed by the State of New Jersey.

Parents can rest assured that while their children study a dual, yet integrated, course of study, the degree of mastery in every discipline is never compromised. Students are assessed for their strengths and weaknesses in both Judaic and Secular studies and then are placed in the environment where they will be properly challenged and successful. We recognize the importance of understanding the diversity in the type of learners among our students and we find that this unique approach cultivates patience, tolerance and connections throughout the school.

Unlike other day Schools which keep their dual curriculum distinct, we strive to integrate them whenever possible, because our goal is to grow children who are confident, informed and dedicated Jewish people who are well rounded and well prepared to be an active part of our society.

Our students are very well prepared in every subject and often find that their achievements are accelerated by the time they graduate, as is shown in standardized test scores consistently above grade level for most. We use a variety of proven and up-to-date textbooks, and we provide extensive teacher development to stay abreast of the most current teaching methods.
