Tradition…. in a progressive way.
Preparation for life…in a caring place.
If you are looking for an excellent education with a solid Jewish foundation, the Solomon Schechter Academy of Ocean and Monmouth Counties in Howell, New Jersey is your answer.
Our approach provides just the right balance of Judaic Studies and Secular studies which prepares students for the challenges of High School and sends them off with a clear understanding of their Jewish identity.
Our state certified teachers really get to know their students through our unique Village concept, where students are placed in a setting that maximizes their academic potential within a safe learning environment. The Judaic faculty and the Secular faculty work together to present an integrated curriculum, making learning meaningful across all disciplines; be it Torah or technology, math or mitzvot, science or Simchat Torah. We find that our students really love being at school, get excited about learning and feel grounded in their connections to Israel and to the Jewish people. It shows, because our students are polite and respectful to one another and to their teachers. You can feel it from the moment you walk through our door.
For students who transfer midstream, we have a proven Mechina (meh-chee-náh- prep) program, which enables students to quickly catch up to their peers in Judaic Studies. Our students work closely with teachers on a daily basis until they feel confident and can demonstrate their ability to adjust to the regular Judaic curriculum. The Mechina program also complements the secular program, to ensure that students are always learning at their most appropriate and challenging academic level.
Upon beginning their high school experience, our graduates tell us that they are prepared to take on leadership roles in the secular world, including sports, the arts or the community. Most enroll in high school honors programs and many find themselves ahead of their peers, easing the way into a great college and a promising future.
